For the past 2.5 years I’ve been saying that Microsoft’s Copilot just wasn’t ready for prime time. That it was lagging behind other frontier options like ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude.
Well, my official line on all of that has changed.
Over the past 6 weeks, Microsoft has rebuilt Copilot into a genuine contender, powered not just by GPT-5 but also by Anthropic’s Claude models too.
The result is a system that (finally!) feels powerful, fast, and actually useful... all the things we've been promised through numerous false dawns for the past few years.
They’ve even baked agentic workflows right into Word and Excel (using the Claude models), and it’s honestly quite impressive to see it all in action.
For the first time, frontier-level AI actually lives in the Microsoft apps that hundreds of millions of people use every day.
So if like me, you’ve written Copilot off in the past, it's time to give it another look.
